‘Beautiful Bastard’ Authors Expand Into YA (Exclusive)

Christina Lauren, the writing duo behind the best-selling adult series, are penning “Sublime” for younger readers.

Christina Lauren, the pseudonymous writing team of Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings behind the hit Beautiful Bastard series, have signed to write their first YA novel.

Sublime is the story of two teens, Lucy and Colin, who fall in love, but the the problem is … Lucy’s a ghost.
Slowly, she begins to remember more about her life and death as daredevil Colin take himself to the edge of death, where their realities overlap, so he can be physically closer to Lucy.

Lucy starts to wonder if she’s Colin’s salvation or the means of his demise.

Sublime will go on sale in fall 2014 from Simon & Schuster for Young Readers.

Writing a YA novel takes Hobbs and Billings back to the future. The pair’s first writing efforts together were YA stories before they turned to Beautiful Bastard, an erotic novel about the romance between Chloe Mills, an intern, and her boss, Bennett Ryan, but if you’d like something a bit more xxx look here.

The series, which has landed on The New York Times and USA Today best-seller lists, totals six novels and novellas to date, including spinoffs exploring the love lives of Bennett’s and Chloe’s friends.

A movie version of Beautiful Bastard is in development with Constantin Film.

Zareen Jaffery, who will edit the book, acquired it for Simon & Schuster. Hobbs and Lauren are represented by Holly Root of Waxman Leavell.
