Hi Swoonies! First: a little swoon…
As the end of the year approaches, we both get a litttttttle bit sentimental. (it has nothing to do with the eggnog, we swear) We feel so much gratitude and love toward the YA community – we wanted to do something extra special for all of you. Two of our favorite things on the site are the Swoony Boy and Badass Chick features, and we get emails, tweets, and comments all the time asking us to feature characters from books we have not yet mentioned here. So we thought, WE SHOULD TOTALLY DO A SWOONIEST BOY OF YA 2011 AND MOST BADASS CHICK OF YA 2011! *highfive* No way have we covered all the good ones yet! Tell us who you loved!
[And because we have so much love for you, pretty readers, we figured we’d make it about loving you, too.]

Alex – Delirium by Lauren Oliver: When he recites her 'How do I love thee?' from memory and she's never heard poetry. Picture me, in a puddle, on the floor.
Adam Wylde – IIS/WSW by Gayle Foreman: Not only is he swoon city, but Foreman did a STUNNING job of writing in male PoV.
And though I know he's already been covered, Four – Divergent by Veronica Roth: He's the ultimate in swoon. Between the tats and the fear sim and the… yeah, everything.
Badass chicks.
Tris – Divergent: She was, very quietly, a complete badass.
Juliette – Shatter Me: She blasted through concrete and got Adam Kent with his shirt off. She rocks.

1) Tris- Divergent- Veronica Roth Because she literally kicks peoples' asses and can shoot a gun! (I'll always have a huge soft spot for tiny people that can get down with the biggest and the best. Small people can deliver deadly blows, too, yo.)
2) Juliette- Shatter Me- Tahereh Mafi Because even if she has awesome powers, it's her inner strength and her ability to love through adversity that makes her truly kickass.
3) Lola- Lola and the Boy Next Door- Stephanie Perkins Because she is who she is, even if being her means having to be a different person every day. How fun (and exhausting) would that be?! Creative people can always be my besties, except for when they're kissing Cricket, then I might have to accidentally push her over a bridge so I snuggle him while he cries for his loss.
Swoonalicious Guys:
1) Adam Kent- Shatter Me- Tahereh Mafi Because I can't possibly say his name with out dragging out all the syllables and adding a girly sigh & fluttery eyes at the end. It is physically impossible for me. Also because of his tattoos and how he is with James… UNF!
2) Four- Divergent- Veronica Roth Because from the very first time that he touched her back while helping her out of the net, it was like an electric shock that moved from the words to my body. The tingles and their intensity only built from there every time they were together. Plus, there's something so sexy about a guy that loves a girl because of her strength, and pushes her to be stronger still. RAWR. Also, tattoos. (Yes, they do it for me.)
3) Adam Wilde- Where She Went- Gayle Forman Because I'll admit that I'd be an insta-puddle for any guy that wrote a song for me, and he wrote a whole damn ALBUM about Mia. It might be cruel, but I think I'd swoon for a guy that was completely devastated over our breakup. There is sexiness in that type of need and want, and the way he shared his desperate vulnerability with the masses through his music. (I think I might have mental health issues.)
